What you will learn
More and more clinical institutions and therapeutic centers rely on creative therapeutic/artistic procedures with scientific foundations. The focus of the study is the practical training of your therapeutic and musical skills. The theoretical basis is content from medicine, psychology, neuroscience and musicology.
You will learn how to use music in people of different ages to promote their health. You acquire the basics of improvisation, song accompaniment and therapeutic conversation before the first internship. By the second internship, you will then learn how to treat people with specific medical conditions.

The perfect mix of music, psychology and therapeutic practice
Content from medicine, psychology and therapy science form the theoretical basis of your studies. Music lessons in the areas of piano/guitar, percussion and voice as well as the training of your therapeutic skills form the practical basis for your future career in music therapy. You will put your acquired skills into practice in two internships integrated into your studies. The whole program is rounded off by a continuous process of reflection in group self-awareness and supervision.

What I particularly like about the course is the combination of theoretical content and practical application, e.g. in role plays or group exercises. This leads to a high practical component in the curriculum and creates a good basis for the two internship semesters.

MIDI-GO2
MIDI-GO2 is intended to give students the opportunity to acquire targeted knowledge about the use of digital instruments and their application in (music) therapy practice. The project team has been awarded a fellowship in the Stifterverband's DigitalChangeMaker Accelerator for the MIDI-GO2 project.
